Lakeway Police force in the USA has been testing Body Worn Cameras. US Police forces have primarily been using Headcams, but it looks like wearing police video cameras on the body is a growing trend.

 Tippa Naphtali has been campaigning for Police Officers to routinely wear Body Worn Video Cameras. The issue of using cameras to improve professionalism is most important in the US. Police want to defend their jobs against false claims, and citizens feel safe knowing any injury recieved while in police custody will be recorded. Naphtali asks for police to wear cameras while on patrol in the UK for this same reason.

Research at two North-East hospitals has found that only two thirds of alcohol related assaults are reported to the police. Could this change if Body Worn Cameras are used?

Grampian Police have been using Body Worn Cameras for one year. The BBC reports that in 90% of cases that use evidence from Body Worn Cameras result in a guilty plea.

The News website, portsmouth.co.uk, has featured the RS2 Body Worn Camera, which is being worn by parking wardens. They hope to reduce the number of assaults on staff.
