CARMA 2.0 enables simple management of media created by bodyworn video recorders - sometimes referred to as "headcams". The capabilities of CARMA allow Police forces to tackle everyday issues related to the storage and retrieval of large volumes of vital video evidence. With the introduction of network capability, CARMA 2.0 allows video material to be securely stored and accessed from any PC within a force. This builds on CARMA ‘s reputation for dramatically reducing officer time and safeguarding evidence. Additional security features have also been added including a unique digital finger print of every video file sent to CARMA.
CARMA 2.0 is a scaleable, web-based software solution which provides many automated features including camera synchronisation, report generation, handling of evidential material, CD/DVD burning and labelling, data protection act compliance, audit trail from end to end as well as fast searching of all material.

The Home Office report on the Guidance for the Police use of body-worn video devices predicts a 22.4% reduction in officer time spent on paperwork and file preparation. Footage can be used as a piece of supporting evidence in court, significantly improving the quality of the evidence provided by police officers at incidents. The report also states that body-worn cameras have a proven calming effect and have resulted in a reduction in the number of violent crimes.

Alasdair Field, of Reveal Media states, “We have enhanced our CARMA product to meet a demand for increased network capabilities. As individual forces upgrade their network infrastructure we have been able to respond accordingly by updating CARMA to help ensure the forces we work with are able to make the most of their investment in body-worn video technology.”

Field continues, “Given that police officers are spending so much of their time on form filling, administration and reporting, it is crucial to help improve officer efficiency and so enable them to deliver an even better service to the public. CARMA 2.0 is designed to assist in this process by reducing the administrative burden of managing video evidence not only by the Police Forces themselves but the prosecution and court services as well.”
